How to deal with aggressive drivers Common aggressive driving behaviors Running stop signs and red lights Speeding, tailgating, and weaving between lanes Passing on the right of a vehicle Making inappropriate hand and facial gestures Screaming, honking the horn, and flashing headlights If you are confronted by an aggressive driver, or witness aggressive driving behavior, follow these guidelines: Make every attempt to safely move out of the aggressive driver's way. Do not challenge an aggressive driver by speeding up or attempting to "hold your own" in the travel lane. Always wear your seat belt -- not only will it hold you in your seat and behind the wheel in case you need to make an abrupt driving maneuver, but it will also protect you in a crash. Avoid eye contact with the aggressive driver. Ignore gestures, and refuse to return them. Report aggressive drivers to the appropriate authorities by providing a vehicle description, license number, location, and if possible, direction of travel. If you have a cellular phone, and can use it while driving safely, call the police. Many have special numbers such as 9-1-1. If an aggressive driver is involved in a crash farther down the road, stop at a safe distance from the crash scene, wait for the police to arrive, and report the driving behavior that you witnessed. |

People who are looking to buy a discontinued car in the hopes of reselling it on the street and earning a profit, might do well to steer clear of discontinued models. The street value of these automobiles will likely plummet fast. However, car collectors who buy and trade automobiles at upscale auctions might find themselves sitting on a pile of money twenty or more years from now. For example, some discontinued 1970s Cadillac Deville Convertible’s that have all of their original upholstery and parts, can sale for nearly $30,000 in 2009 when the original car cost less than $10,000. Keeping a discontinued Chrysler or General Motors automobile will require regular maintenance in order to preserve the vehicle’s quality look. Driving the automobile for long distances or using it as a regular commuter car might have to be reconsidered. Time will tell which, if any, of the discontinued Chrysler and General Motors automobiles will earn a classic title. One thing is certain, even with the regular upkeep that is required for the car, if money is not a priority and space is available, holding onto a discontinued car might yield a sizable payoff in the years to come. Despite a $19 billion taxpayer bailout, General Motors Corp., for generations the world’s largest manufacturer of automobiles, filed for bankruptcy. It almost immediately announced a plan to cut more than one-third of its dealerships in the United States and a dozen factories were targeted for closure — resulting in layoffs for an estimated 120,000 Americans. Four core brands were shed: Pontiac, Saab, Hummer and Saturn; that left GM with just four brands remaining: Chevrolet, Buick, Cadillac and GMC. Gone were the days of “Generous Motors” — the company’s lucrative benefits for its workers made for the long-running joke that GM was a health insurance company that sold cars on the side. That would all change. Union workers, already having made a litany of givebacks from contracts negotiated in fatter times, would swallow health care, retirement and pay cuts. Many took buyouts aimed at reducing the size of the workforce and allowing the company to rehire new, lower-paid people to take their place. . Read More |

When you think of a performance car, what comes to mind? High torque, huge horsepower, a suspension and chassis built for comfort and control during aggressive driving and smooth handling at high RPMs (that's a mouthful). Basically, the same things we think about. Unfortunately, most performance cars aren't cheap. If you want power, you have to pay for it. For example, the 2008 HPA Audi TT will cost you about $60,000. A 2008 Genaddi G-SPT Corvette will run $102,000. And if Ferraris are more your style, then you must have $200,000 sitting around somewhere. That's how much you'll need to buy one. |

The history between the American Pontiac Association car club and AUTORAMA began in 1979 as the South Texas Pontiac Club. If youve ever been to AUTORAMA youve noticed the abundance of car club displays , that is 6 to 8 cars from the same car club together with a theme . Well in 1979 the American Pontiac Association started the tradition and competition between the car clubs and their displays. In 1980 the first award was given for a car club display and the APA was awarded the first , first place . The following three years the club held the prestigious first place and the primo spot the middle of the Astrohall . The club continued to place first for a couple more years , then the competition got plenty and wise . |

The experts are predicting a busier-than-usual hurricane season for 2010. These early forecasts, however, will likely be modified depending on the evolving climactic conditions. If the early forecasts prove to be accurate, the 2010 hurricane season will stand in sharp contrast to the relatively mild 2009 season. Special concerns in 2010 are whether a hurricane will hit the already-devastated island of Haiti and how a hurricane in the Gulf of Mexico would affect the giant oil slick created by the explosion on the BP offshore driling platform. Another question is whether a hurricane will come ashore in the Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama coastal areas, some of which have not yet recovered from 2005's Hurricane Katrina. Check out the National Hurricane Center Official NOAA website for uptodate information. We urge people to have emergency supplies stored it never hurts to be prepared.
